Jordan Mills graduated from JCCC in 2013 with an Associates in Liberal Arts on a music scholarship and then went on to graduate from KU in 2018 with a Bachelors of Music Education in Music Therapy.
Music has been an integral part of Jordan’s life ever since starting choir in elementary school. She went on to play trumpet and then switched to French horn — which ended up becoming Jordan’s primary instrument all throughout college (although it has been collecting dust ever since). In college, Jordan started playing the guitar and ukulele and shifted her focus to those two instruments moving forward.
Throughout her professional career, Jordan has provided hundreds of hours of music therapy and adapted music lessons through in-home services, several practicum placements during her time at KU, private daycares, an internship at Shawnee Mission School District, and a private music therapy practice in Johnson County.
Nowadays you will find Jordan teaching early education music classes at the Lawrence Arts Center preschool and kindergarten, the Children’s Center for the Visually Impaired, and Spotlight Dance Academy; teaching ukulele, or guitar classes at the Lawrence Arts Center school of Theatre and Music and here at Americana Music Academy; she is also a coach for River City Rock Camp!
