Hello, I’m Kahlil, a guitar and cello player and Lawrence, KS native. I work with folks of all ages, teaching beginner cello, beginner and intermediate guitar, and ukulele. I’m passionate about performing and writing music and especially value the joy and magic that comes from it. I love the way that music can be a form of expression and an outlet for emotions. The growth that I have seen through music has been amazing, and I wish to share that with others.

I have 4 years of experience playing guitar, with experience in folk, old time, contemporary, and country music. I am open and excited to explore other styles with my students. I have a flexible approach to teaching, allowing my students to choose the focus of their study while providing structure and guidance. I specialize in folk finger style and am interested in music theory and composition.

Over the last 7 years, I have played cello, and most recently competed with the Freestate Philharmonic Orchestra in the KSHSAA large group competition (2026). During my time in the Free State Orchestra, I had the opportunity to mentor younger students and this sparked my interest in music education.

I have been lucky enough to study here at Americana Music academy for the last 4 years, and am excited to start my work teaching others in our community.
