Kendra Switzer is a coloratura soprano from Joplin, MO. She is pursuing her PhD in Musicology at the University of Kansas and is also a GTA in the Musicology Department. Kendra also teaches music appreciation courses for Highland Community College. Her first masters degree is in Vocal Music Performance from Pittsburg State University in 2017, where she was a graduate teaching assistant. Kendra graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Vocal Music Performance from Missouri Southern State University in 2012. She was also an adjunct professor of Music Appreciation there from 2018-2020.
 

Kendra has performed with MOSO Theatre, Pitt State Opera, Heartland Opera Theatre, and Dream Theatre’s Studio 124 numerous times over the past 10 years. Her role highlights include Suor Dolcina in Suor Angelica, Mabel in The Pirates of Penzance, Mistress of Ceremonies from Chicago, and Usherette from The Rocky Horror Show. From 2016-2018, she performed with the Tulsa Signature Chorale with the Signature Symphony at TCC. She has also vocal directed productions of Evil Dead the Musical and The Rocky Horror Show at Dream Theatre’s Studio 124. Kendra served as a board member on the board of directors for Heartland Opera Theatre during the 2020-2021 season.

Being an eclectic individual, she enjoys singing and teaching in many styles including English art song, oratorio and opera, as well as musical theatre, alternative, pop, rock, and folk. She is currently accepting students ages 11 and up.
