Sunflower Music Club
June 2-5 (M-Th), 9:00 – 11:00 a.m.

Class Description: (Minimum enrollment: 5, Maximum Enrollment: 10) A nature-inspired camp full of singing and playing music, art, stories, games, and getting our hands dirty in the garden!

Crayons to Cadenzas
June 23-27 (M-F), 9:30 – 11:00 a.m.
Student Ages: 4-7
Cost: $150
Instructor: Holly Taylor, MT-BC
Class Description: (Minimum enrollment: 5, Maximum Enrollment: 10) Join us for a hands-on, music making camp that encourages self expression and positive social interactions. Participants will interact with instrument families and be introduced to foundational musical concepts as they make music of their own!
Teens’ Camps:
Teen Fiddle Camp
July 7-11 (M-F), 9-11 a.m.
Student Ages: 13-19
Instructor: Howard Rains and Tricia Spencer
Cost: $180
Class Description: (Minimum enrollment: 5) Traditional American fiddle music is a fun and exciting style of music to play. This music has been passed down from generation to generation for almost 200 years! Learn fiddle repertoire and technique from master fiddlers Tricia Spencer and Howard Rains. Knowledge of the style is not required, but participants should have an instrument and be able to play at an intermediate level.

Teen Jug Band Camp
July 14-18 (M-F), 9-11 a.m.
Student Ages: 13-19
Instructor: Howard Rains and Tricia Spencer
Cost: $180
Class Description: (Minimum enrollment: 5) Jug Band music is a style that incorporates blues, old-time, ragtime, and swing. This is a repertoire and ensemble class for fiddle, ukulele, guitar, banjo, mandolin and bass taught by master musicians Tricia Spencer and Howard Rains. Knowledge of the style is not required, but participants should have an instrument and be able to play.
Classes for Teens and Adults:
Beginning Voice Class
June 4-25 (W), 1:00 – 3:00 p.m.
Student Ages: 14-25
Instructor: Kendra Switzer
Cost: $135
Class Description: (Minimum enrollment: 4) Beginning level group instruction in singing, focusing on the fundamentals of voice production and musicianship skills when singing, including vocal technique and health. Designed for any person with limited singing experience, wishing to improve their singing skills, in a low stakes group environment.

Old Time String Band Class
June 3-26 (Tu & Th), 5:30-7:00 p.m.
Students: high schoolers and adults
Instructor: James Krause
Cost: $265
Class Description: (Minimum enrollment: 4, maximum enrollment 10) In this workshop, we will explore the essence of playing old time string band music and how to turn listeners into dancers. Taught by Kansas Music State Hall of Fame fiddler, banjoist, and guitarist James Krause. Knowledge of the style is not required, but participants should have an instrument and be able to play at an intermediate level.

Recording Camp
June 23-26 (M-Th), 9:00 – 11:30 a.m.
Students: High schooler and adults
Instructor: Brandon Jones
Cost: $195
Class Description: (Minimum enrollment: 4) Join us for an electrifying summer camp where you’ll form a band, write an original song, and record it like the pros! With hands-on coaching in songwriting, performance, and studio production, you’ll leave with a killer track and the skills to make more—no experience required, just bring your passion for music!

How do I sign up for lessons?
There are three simple ways to get more information about signing up for classes with Americana Music Academy
1. Fill out any of the forms on this website. Someone will get back to you within 48 hours (hopefully much sooner!)
2. Email us at americanamusicacademy@gmail.com
3. Call us during normal business hours at 785-830-9640. If nobody picks up, please leave a detailed message!
How much do lessons cost?
Private lessons cost $30 per 30-minute session, or $120 per month. If you're a college student, inquire about our college student discount! We also award scholarships, which are open to any student, on six-month cycles.
Where do lessons take place?
We offer in-person lessons at our schoolhouse at 1419 Massachusetts St, Lawrence KS 66044. We also have several instructors who continue to offer remote / virtual lessons using the videoconferencing software of your choice (Zoom, Google Meet, Facetime, etc.)
What protocols are in place to combat the COVID-19 coronavirus?
We work diligently with our board of directors and local public health authorities to develop practices to ensure the safety of our teachers and students. We are offering both virtual and in-person lesson options at this time, and teachers establish their own mask policies at this time.
What instruments does Americana teach?
Here at Americana we're proud to teach a wide variety of instruments and musical styles, including improvisation, songwriting and production. For a complete list, please see elsewhere on the website and this list will be updated continuously as we bring more instructors on board!
Do you provide live sound options for corporate events, weddings and private shows?
Americana Music Academy has a state-of-the-art sound system that can provide any live audio that you might need for your event. Please contact us at americanamusicacademy@gmail.com for more details and to reserve your sound system and engineer.
