A lifelong musician, Ven grew up in Huntington, IN and has been teaching piano and horn since 2000. Since then they have had the opportunity to work with students of all ages in individual and group settings. Ven studied composition at Oberlin Conservatory, jazz piano at Indiana University, and is certified in Sound, Voice & Music Healing by the California Institute of Integral Studies.
Ven has had the privilege to receive instruction and mentorship from many highly qualified teachers representing a wide spectrum of musical lineages, including those of Chicago Symphony brass legends Arnold Jacobs & Dale Clevenger, prominent Indianapolis jazz musicians Wes Montgomery & David Baker, European composers J.S. Bach & Arnold Schoenberg, Indian Classical master Ali Akbar Khan, and others. Ven is passionate about integrating and sharing the treasures of the world’s musical traditions as a composer, performer, healing practitioner and educator. They seek to help students identify their interests and values and explore the ways that music can contribute to our mutual well-being.
